Sam graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1971 and began his accounting career at Russell Brown & Co. in Little Rock, AR where he became a partner in 1981 at the age of 29. He remained a partner after the firm merged with Arthur Young & Company in 1982.
In 1985, Sam left Arthur Young to establish S.F. Fiser & Co. in Springdale, AR on October 1, 1985. He later opened the firm’s second office in Batesville, AR.
Early in his career, Sam served as a Captain in the National Guard from 1971 to 1980 and as commander of the B Battery Siloam Springs, 142nd Field Artillery.
Throughout his career, Sam was very involved in client service regularly consulting with closely held businesses and their owners where he specialized in service to the firm’s banking, real estate, construction, agri-business, and transportation industry clients.
Sam was also involved in many civic and public organizations during his career. He served two five-year terms on the Arkansas Savings and Loan Association Board after being appointed by then Governor Bill Clinton. He was a director for the Springdale Rotary Association, Arts Center of the Ozarks, ARVEST Bank Springdale and the Springdale Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Chairman for one term. At the time of his passing, Sam was serving as a Trustee for the Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranch and as a director for both the Schmieding Foundation and the Independence Shooting Sports Foundation.
In 2004, Sam was honored with the Sam M. Walton College of Business Accounting Alumni Award. He was awarded the Arkansas Business Lifetime Achievement Award in Public Accounting in 2011.
